This friendly little township is located 34 kilometres south of Ararat on the eastern slopes of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. It is supported by the local farming industry, which is mainly involved in wool, fat lambs, and cropping.
Willaura has a mixture of local businesses, including a wonderful local bakery, art galleries and a local candle maker.
It also offers a Recreation Reserve with room to stretch your legs, walk the dog, and fly a kite. An outdoor pool (Dec-March), tennis courts, playground, shady trees, and free BBQs make this reserve a haven in all seasons.
A one kilometre walking track nearby takes visitors around one of the district’s intriguing lignum swamps and offers visitors an insight into the town’s history and unique environmental features.
