Accessible travel in the Grampians region

The Grampians region can be a rewarding place to visit with the right planning. Accessibility varies between towns, lookouts and walking tracks, so it’s important to choose experiences that match your access needs and check conditions before you go.

Start here: plan with the right tools

All abilities walks and TrailRider access
Parks Victoria’s Grampians All Abilities Walking Track and TrailRider Guide outlines accessible walks, surfaces, gradients and facilities across the park.

Check closures and current conditions
Before setting out, check Parks Victoria alerts and park updates for track closures, weather impacts and temporary access changes.

Mobility equipment and supported access

TrailRider all-terrain wheelchair
The multi-day Grampians Peaks Trail is not generally wheelchair accessible, but TrailRider all-terrain wheelchairs can be booked (with volunteer support) for selected experiences within the park. Planning ahead is essential as availability is limited.
For bookings and advice, contact Parks Victoria.

Low-stress accessible nature experiences

Brambuk precinct wetlands and paths
There are wheelchair-friendly paths around the wetlands and gardens at the Brambuk precinct. Check current access to facilities via Brambuk The National Park and Cultural Centre before visiting, as opening arrangements can change.

Toilets and high-support facilities

Changing Places toilets
For travellers who need a hoist and adult change table, plan your stops using the Changing Places national map.
A nearby high-support facility is listed at May Park in Horsham on the National Public Toilet Map (search “May Park Horsham” for current details and access information).
If you don’t already have an MLAK key, see Changing Places information on MLAK access.

Visitor information centres (local, current advice)

Local visitor centres can provide up-to-date, practical advice on accessible routes, toilets, parking and conditions. Start with the Halls Gap and Grampians Visitor Information Centre for tailored, on-the-ground guidance.

Assistance animals

Assistance dogs are permitted in Parks Victoria parks and reserves where pet dogs are usually not allowed, in line with access regulations. See Parks Victoria accessibility and assistance animal guidance for details.
