Mid Morning: Sisters Rocks and Bunjil’s Shelter

Drive to Sisters Rocks, intriguing rock formations that offer great climbing opportunities and a chance to see some local graffiti art from the gold mining era. Continue on to Bunjil’s Shelter, one of the most important Aboriginal rock art sites in southern Victoria and the only one depicting Bunjil, providing a significant cultural experience and insight into the local Aboriginal heritage.

Double down of your Stawell history lesson and follow in the footsteps of legendary athletes. See the Stawell Gift track at Central Park, feel the rush of adrenaline and history under your feet as comb through this thrilling history lesson.

Evening: Local Dining and Grampians Ale Works

Return to Stawell for dinner at a local restaurant, enjoying dishes made from regional produce. After dinner (or before?!), visit Grampians Ale Works to taste handcrafted beers in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Day 2: Nature and Relaxation

Morning: Big Hill Lookout and Gold Mine

Start your day with a drive up to Big Hill Lookout. The panoramic views from the lookout are stunning at sunrise, providing a peaceful setting to enjoy your morning coffee. Afterwards you might like to check out Victoria’s largest gold mining operation that runs in many different directions under the township of Stawell: the Stawell Gold Mine. The mine has a large viewing area along Reefs Road.

Mid-Morning: Grampians Rail Trail

Grab your bikes and hit the Grampians Rail Trail for a scenic ride. The trail offers a gentle yet immersive experience into the natural landscape surrounding Stawell, perfect for capturing photos, getting in some gentle exercise and enjoying the fresh air.

Afternoon: Picnic at Lake Fyans

Stock up on some local goodies to pack a picnic, then head to Lake Fyans, a short 15 minute drive from Stawell. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the water, swimming, fishing, water skiing or even sailing to explore the lake at your leisure.
