The Ararat Jailhouse Rock Festival is an annual community celebration in Ararat, that celebrates the spirit of the 1950s and 1960s rock and roll culture with music, cars, dancing and family friendly activities.
Festivities kick off on Friday evening with the Barkly Street Cruise from 7:00 PM, followed by a live performance from Slim and The Sparkplugs at the Ararat Town Hall.
Saturday is packed with entertainment. The day begins with the Show Us Your Wheels car display at the Ararat Town Hall, before The Leopold Hotel hosts lunch at 1:00 PM. At 3:00 PM, enjoy a screening of a movie and a hotdog at The Astor Cinema Ararat. Then dance the night away at Ararat Town Hall with the Jailhouse Rock Ball from 7:00 PM, featuring rock and roll favourites The Stompin' 88s.
On Sunday, the Ararat Turf Club hosts the Jailhouse Rock Festival Show, rounding out a fantastic weekend of nostalgia, music, and community celebration, with car, truck and motorbike shows, music by Cobra 45s, a dance floor, food vans, and a full bar.
