October is the month to celebrate all things beer (Hello, Oktoberfest!) and as we head into late spring in the Grampians and the weather really warms up, what better way to quench your thirst, explore the region AND get into the summer vibes than to make a beer tasting trail of it complete with live music? Check out what's on in and around some of the Grampians region’s ale-swilling hot spots… and get into the traditional Oktoberfest feels, The Grampians Way!
Established in 2017, Pomonal Estate owners, Adam and Pep Atchison welcome you to their winery, microbrewery and cider house.
With a stunning backdrop of the Grampians National Park, stop-in here on your journey west and enjoy a selection of regional wines, handcrafted ciders AND chat to brewmaster Adam who proudly produces small-batch beer on-site making only 50L at a time – it doesn’t get fresher than that!
On tap, they have their own Pomonal Pale Ale, a Pomonal Estate exclusive, as well as Red Duck from Ballarat. With local produce platters, light lunches and spectacular Grampians views this is a must on any posh “pub crawl” - do not leave without trying a tasting paddle!!
And what better way to make merry this month than at Pomonal Estate for their second Oktoberfest on 26 October. Enjoy an afternoon of bopping on the lawn to live music from local band "Orange Whip", German Sausages, Sauerkraut, a Lederhosen competition, German beers and more!
Had a tad too much fun?! Catch a ride back to Halls Gap with Grampians Wine Tours or Great Grampians Tours.
Situated at the foothills of Mount William in the main tourist hub of the Grampians region, the Halls Gap Hotel is the perfect place to include on a beer tasting trail. Located on the edge of town, the Halls Gap Hotel is a short bush walk to the centre of Halls Gap and their huge open veranda is the perfect place to enjoy the magnificent views of the Grampians and local wildlife.
This month on Friday, 25th at 8 pm grab an icy beverage and kickback to the blistering bluesy beats of Ash Grunwald supported by Jack Botts, but make sure you get your tickets here before the event as it's sure to be a sell-out!
The Halls Gap Hotel also has a hearty new brekky menu - ideal for that hair-of-the-dog recovery... Definitely book ahead (you can even book online!) to make sure you reserve your table; this is one very popular Grampians hangout!
Paper Scissors Rock Brew Co. is an exciting Grampians-based independent microbrewery located in the town centre of Halls Gap.
With all of their beers brewed fresh on-site, a seasonal street-food inspired fusion menu and regular live music and events - you won’t need an excuse to visit at any time year-round, but this spring and summer are definitely set to be sizzling at this very cool new venue!
This month they're kicking off a season of awesome live music acts with Sunday Sessions featuring Nick Saxon on the 27th followed by what's sure to be an epic live performance on the 31st by Lloyd Spiegel who has just announced the release of his 10th album ‘Cut and Run’. This is your chance to get acquainted with his new tracks whilst you sip fresh ale in the mountains!
