Dine in Halls Gap at Flame Brothers, Gelato Guys and The Town Fryer

22 Jul 2022

It’s foodie heaven in the Grampians, with some even calling it the “Gastronomic Grampians”. You can taste your way around the region with the option of five-star dining, cosy cafes, farm gate provedores and country pubs.

We recommend starting with Halls Gap favourites: Flame Brothers Restaurant & Bar, Gelato Guys, The Town Fryer and The Brambuk Café & Eatery.

Flame Brothers

Flame Brothers Restaurant & Bar is located in the heart of Halls Gap, along Stoney Creek. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week, it offers a unique dining experience, being the only venue in the area with an American BBQ inspired menu. Think BBQ pork ribs, salt and pepper brisket, smoked and braised lamb shanks and Nashville chicken wings. For vegetarians there’s buffalo cauliflower, smoked mushroom burgers, mac & cheese and smoked corn on the cob.

Supporting local is a big part of Flame Brothers ethos. You can expect to see local vineyards and brewers on the drinks list such as Paper Scissors Rock, Pomonal Estate, Miners Ridge, Fratin Brothers, Black & Ginger and Fallen Giants. They also sling out incredible cocktails – don’t leave without asking about the special!

For breakfast, expect eggs benedict with smoked bacon hock, salmon bagels, brownie hot cake, avocado bruschetta to be on the menu. They’ve got “quick and easy” options for those on the go, or if you’re carb loading ahead of your Grampians adventure, opt for the Flamin’ BIG Brekky featuring eggs, sauteed mushrooms, hash brown, grilled chorizo, smoked bacon, roast tomato and avocado.

From family packs to fried fish, potato cakes, chips and Chiko rolls, The Town Fryer is a must-visit on your road trip through Halls Gap. Open 7 days a week, you’ll find fish n’ chip shop staples, plus burgers and plant-based feeds like battered fishless fish and sweet corn fritters.

Dine-in or takeaway to your cosy hotel room, campsite or lush grasslands over the road.

You can’t leave the Grampians without stopping for an ice-cream at Gelato Guys. Situated opposite the Halls Gap Pool, Gelato Guys is the place to be in the warmer months. However, don’t be deterred by the cold – there’s always room for dessert…

New flavours are constantly being made on site, giving visitors plenty to choose from including vegan and GF options! You’ll find sorbet flavours including Mango, Wild Berry, Passionfruit, Blood Orange, Lemon, Watermelon, Fruit Medley, Banana, and Vegan Chocolate.

When it comes to ice-cream flavours think Lemon Meringue, Cookies & Cream, Espresso, Liquorice, Vanilla Bean, Turkish delight, Salted Caramel, Raspberry & White chocolate, Pistachio, Bubblegum, Orange Choc Chip, Creme Brûlée, Dulce De Leche to name a few. The team also loves to experiment with native ingredients, proving to be very popular.

If you find a favourite, why not buy a tub to take home with you? You can enjoy it as you wish AND as often as you like.
