Seriously Shiraz 2018 - A Perfect Father's Day Weekend Getaway

Treat Dad to a Father's Day getaway and celebrate the first weekend of Spring, by sipping, savouring and sampling the best wines the Grampians region has to offer.

Grab your family and friends and head to one of the many 'Seriously Shiraz' events being held over the weekend in a variety of stunning locations and venues.

Did we mention we were serious about our Shiraz? Winemakers in the Grampians know their stuff when it comes to making wine, and the region is known for its world class wines, including shiraz. With an amazing history that dates back over 100 years, this weekend is the perfect excuse to wine, dine, listen to music, meet the winemakers and discover what makes the Grampians wine region so amazing. Try our other wine varieties too - you might just find a new favourite!

DAY ONE | Friday, August 31 & Saturday, 1 September

POMONAL ART FESTIVAL | ART AUCTION – FRIDAY, 31 AUGUST FROM 6.30PM

Hosted in the recently built, design award winning Pomonal Hall nestled amid the rugged grandeur of the Grampians Mountains, the exhibition opens at 6.30pm on Friday 31st August with the now traditional – and often amusing - auction.

In a wonderful display of community support, all items are donated by local businesses to support Pomonal Primary School. Entry for the evening is $10 which includes a buffet supper catered by Sarah’s Kitchen (Ararat), with beer and local wines available at bar prices.

POMONAL ART FESTIVAL | ART EXHIBITION – SATURDAY, 10AM - 4PM

Metal sculpture, hand blown glass-work, textiles, water colours, photography, art work both traditional and contemporary. Over 200 individual art works reflecting the diversity, creativity and innovation of local artists: welcome to the Grampians premier collaborative art exhibition, the 28th annual Pomonal Art Exhibition and festival, proudly presented by Pomonal Primary school.

STEEL CUTTERS COTTAGE | CLARNETTE & LUDVIGSEN WINE TASTING – SATURDAY, 11AM

As a part of The Grampians Seriously Shiraz Festival, Leigh Clarnette will be joining us at Steel Cutters Cottage to host a Tasting of current and new release wines.

Don't miss this opportunity to taste the outstanding range of Clarnette & Ludvigsen wines!

Mount Langi Ghiran is delighted to offer visitors a tasting of a new and very special Shiraz, to be released on Saturday September 1, all weekend at cellar door.

NORTON ESTATE | THE FLAVOURS OF THE WESTERN GRAMPIANS - SUNDAY, 11AM - 5PM

Norton Estate Wines is a producer of highly acclaimed boutique wines and will be open over the fathers day weekend, the first weekend in spring.

The Estate offers free tastings of their full range of wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and of course, their three gold medal winning Shiraz wines; Rockface, Arapiles Run and Wendy's Block.

Along with the wonderful wines available for you to taste, there will be samples of locally sourced Western Grampians produce for you to try as well.

Norton Estate is open on the Seriously Shiraz weekend on Saturday 1 September and Sunday 2 September, from 11:00am to 5:00pm each day.

BEST’S | BACK VINTAGE SHIRAZ TASTING – SATURDAY, 12.30PM - 2PM

Best's have a long history and this is your chance to share it with them. This is a great opportunity for you to discover what all the fuss is about when it comes to older wines and why so many try to find that hidden gem.

Best's will be looking at seven wines spread over 20 years, some under cork others under screw cap. Come and explore and experience the differences.

BEST’S | DAVE NICHOLSON GUITAR SOLOIST FROM ARARAT - SATURDAY, 12PM - 4PM

FREE ENTRY! Music on the lawn will feature local acoustic soloist, David Nicholson, who will be playing some of your favourite songs on the lawn at Best's.

Bring a blanket or chair and claim your spot. Grab a glass of your favourite Best's, a cheese plate or something off the hotplate. The local school will also be cooking up a storm with a gourmet BBQ.

MOUNT LANGI GHIRAN | THREE VINTAGES, THREE DECADES 2018, 2008, 1998 – SATURDAY, 12.30PM - 5.30PM

Mount Langi Ghiran invites you to a first preview of the 2018 vintage with winemaker Jessica Robertson. Starting with a guided tour of the winery, you will then be led into a tasting of Mount Langi Ghiran finest wines spanning three decades.

First bracket: 2018 Riesling / 2008 Langi Riesling / 1998 Langi Riesling.

Second bracket: 2018 Cabernet / 1998 Langi Cabernet Merlot (magnum).

Third bracket: 2018 Old Block Shiraz x three / 2008 Langi Shiraz / 1998 Langi Shiraz.

Cheese platters and nibbles will be served during the tasting.

This year the Grampians wine region is again opening its cellar doors for Seriously Shiraz over the weekend of September 1 and 2, 2018.

As boutique wine producers, Mountainside Wines strive to showcase the terroir of their vineyards. As small producers the weather and the site dictates the growth of the grapes and ultimately the aromas and flavours in their wines.

Taste five years of Shiraz wines grown and made on site and discover how to identify aromas, flavours and the alcohol content of the wines you are tasting.

FALLEN GIANTS VERTICAL TASTING - SATURDAY & SUNDAY - CALL IN DURING OPENING HOURS

During the Seriously Shiraz weekend in the Grampians, Fallen Giants Vineyard will have available for tasting all of their previous and current vintage single vineyard Shiraz. After tasting, enjoy a glass or wine and produce platter on the deck.

SERIOUSLY JAZZ with STEVE SEDERGREEN - SATURDAY FROM 6PM

Join us for an intimate evening of live jazz in the Seppelt Wines Barrel Hall.

Seppelt Wines Barrel Hall are presenting the Steve Sedergreen Points in Time Band and will also welcome back the amazing Amelia Green to once again perform with Steve Sedergreen - keyboard Paul Williamson (saxophones and vocals) Amelia Evans (vocals) Dave Palmer (trombone) Jonah Grant (double bass) and Michael Jordan (drums and vocals).

The doors will be open from 6:00pm, with the Seppelt 1892 Food Hall open for short order dining and the Music will kick off at around 7:30pm and continue into the evening. Tickets are very limited - secure yours now.

STEEL CUTTERS COTTAGE & CLARNETTE & LUDVIGSEN | DINE WITH THE WINEMAKER – SATURDAY, 6.45PM

To celebrate the 2018 Grampians Seriously Shiraz Wine Festival, Steel Cutters Cottage, in conjunction with guest winemaker Leigh Clarnette of Clarnette and Ludvigsen Wines will be hosting a four-course evening dining experience on Saturday the 1 September.

Four of Clarnette and Ludvigsen Wines including the newly released 2015 Reserve Shiraz have been carefully paired with classic dishes from the Steel Cutters Cottage kitchen.

Places are limited to 14 guests and prepaid bookings are essential. So why not treat yourself and join Steel Cutters Cottage to celebrate wines of exceptional quality, beautifully prepared food and the first day of Spring.

DAY TWO | SUNDAY, 2 SEPTEMBER

POMONAL ART FESTIVAL | FATHER'S DAY FAMILY FUN - SUNDAY, 10AM - 4PM

Sunday is family festival day with local stalls, food vendors, a coffee van, local wine and beer available and live grooves and tunes from the locally grown Recalcitrants and The Plastic Bags.

Free art workshops and demonstrations by Wayne Dickinson and Barb Venn are a delight to children and adults alike and for the kids other activities include jumping castles, fairy floss, hair spraying, face painting, and a visit from Halls Gap Zoo animals.

GRAMPIANS ESTATE | SPARKLING SHIRAZ MASTERCLASS - SUNDAY, 11AM - 12PM

Celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday 2 September from 11:00am to 12-noon.

Taste some of Australia's finest sparkling shiraz.

Compare Grampians Estate's Sparkling Shiraz trophy winners including Winestate's Sparkling of the Year - 2006 Rutherford Sparking Shiraz with some of the country's finest.
