Okay, so winter is here and we’ve just found the ultimate place for you to take the family these holidays. We’re pretty lucky here in the Grampians that we are spoilt for choice when it comes to great accommodation, big nature and delectable food and wine. One such choice is Halls Gap Lakeside Tourist Park, an award-winning park situated in the heart of the Grampians region, that pretty much has well, everything.
A Warm Welcome
When you’re checking in, not only will you be greeted by the cheeriest of staff, but you can grab a coffee and stock up on all the essentials (that’s wine BTW!). Lakeside have one of THE best wine stores, boasting a great selection of local award-winning local Grampians wines. Grab a sneaky bottle or two to enjoy. While you’re at it, buy your very own ‘Let’s Go Caravaning & Camping’ edition of Monopoly. Let the holiday begin!
Accommodation options galore
Paradise doesn’t have to be tropical, and winter doesn’t mean you can’t go camping! With a huge variety of accommodation options including green, grassy campsites, cabin accommodation from budget to deluxe, brand new caravans, a range of fantastic (and quirky) glamping options, plus a modern house that accommodates up to14, there is bound to be something that is just right for you.
Take a dip
Yep, even in winter. Enjoy one of Australia’s only outdoor woodfire heated pools sitting at around 33 degrees all year round. Just like a bath (but keep your clothes on please!)
It’s kids play
The kids will absolutely have a ball at Lakeside. The playground even has spring-free trampolines complete with safety nets. Hallelujah – can a get a ‘hey now’ parents?!
Pack the marshmallows
This is what family memories are made of. Winter is the best time to cosy up around the campfire, toast marshmallows and drink hot chocolates. Fire drums are available to hire for the duration of your stay.
After all that packing and kid wrangling to get here, you deserve to treat yourself with a massage. Offered to inhouse guests only, book in for a 1 hour or 30 minute massage.
Winter days can give way to spectacular winter nights. Days are shorter in winter, making way for the stars to come out earlier so the whole family can enjoy stargazing and you might still get the kids to bed on time! Another bonus is that there are no city lights or buildings to block your view.
The Grampians equals wildlife encounters and at Lakeside you will be spoilt by sightings of kangaroo, emu, deer and birdlife, sometimes right on your doorstep. And winter is the perfect time to getaway and NOT encounter those pesky flies and mosquitos that summer brings.
Rooms with a view
Get amongst nature – it’s free! With the Grampians National Park as the natural backdrop, you will be in awe of the 360 degree mountain views that surround the park. A great free family activity is to explore nature with a walk in the National Park or visit one of the many lookouts or waterfalls.
Any parent knows that Happy Hour is on par with the fact the park has a playground, right? Kick back and relax for Happy Hour around the communal open camp fire at the Camp Lounge. Tell a few yarns and plan the next days’ adventures.
To stay at Lakeside, packing is easy. Let’s face it, most of us are chronic overpackers, but at Lakeside just bring your personal items and that’s about it! Cabins are fully equipped!
Some of our fondest memories are of holidays with the family camping or caravanning, playing Uno and toasting marshmallows on the open fire. For a winter holiday done right, Lakeside is an easy choice. Check out their winter deals here and get packing!
