Explore the Grampians, Black and Pyrenees rugged mountain ranges by foot. There are many walks, from a gentle stroll to a full day adventure or the recently launched multi-day Grampians Peaks Trail.
A small selection of the walks available are listed below.
Distance: 2.3km circuit. Time: 30 minutes. Grade: Easy. Start: Carpark opposite the Halls Gap shops. Follow the track and cross over Stony Creek at the small bridge to the Botanic gardens.
Distance: 9.6 km circuit. Time: 4 – 5 hours. Grade: Medium –hard. Start: Car park opposite Halls Gap shops, past swimming pool and cross the sealed road. Follow the well-formed track to Venus Baths. The rocky track continues to Splitters Falls then to the Wonderland Car park.
Distance: 2.4 km return. Time: 1 – 1½ hours. Grade: Easy-medium. Start: Piccaninny carpark, Grampians. Tourist Road. 1.3 km north of Victoria Valley Road intersection.
Distance: 7 km return. Time: 2½ - 3 hours. Grade: Hard. Start: Intersection of Grampians Tourist Road and Victoria Valley Road. This walk, suitable for fit and energetic walkers, can involve water crossings, slippery track surfaces and rock hopping.
Distance: 2.8 kms return. Time: 1 – 1½ hours. Grade: Medium. Start: Mt Zero Picnic Area. Cross the Mt Zero road and follow the signposted track up the rocky hillside.
Distance: 1km return. Time: 45 minutes. Grade: Easy. Start: Ferntree Picnic area, Mount Buangor State Park. The return circuit passes three waterfalls, including Ferntree and Cascade Falls, and gives many excellent viewing points over the fern-lined upper reaches of the Middle Creek below, and passes through awe inspiring tall forest of Blue Gums and Messmates.
