Step out and explore the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park's spectacular natural beauty on foot. There are many walks and hikes on offer, from a gentle stroll to a full day adventure or the recently launched multi-day Grampians Peaks Trail.
The iconic Pinnacle walk and lookout is one of the highlights of the entire Grampians region. Hikers are rewarded with stunning views of Halls Gap and the Grampians' many peaks. Visitors have a choice of three trails to reach The Pinnacle, each varying in distance and grade.
An easy stroll starting in the center of Halls Gap follow the 2.3km track and cross over Stony Creek at the small bridge to the Botanic gardens.
Two spectacular locations from one car park. Reed Lookout gives you views while an easy 2km walk will take you to The Balconies for views of The Victoria Valley and surrounding ranges
A moderate 2km walk from the carpark to the highest point in the Grampians is bound to impress anyone on a quest for incredible scenery. The summit gives views across the mountain range as well as Pomonal, Moyston and Ararat.
Boronia Peak involves a rocky climb up to the summit which rewards you with superb views towards Lake Fyans in the east and over the Fyans Valley
A more difficult 6.5km walk for the experience hiker. This trail will have you winding through woodland and emerging on a rocky ridge. For the best walking experience explore Mount Abrupt (Mud-Dadjug) in Spring to early Summer.
An easier walk at the Southern end of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. The Piccaninny (Bainggug) provides wonderful views of its neighbour, Mount Abrupt (Mud-Dadjug), and nearby Dunkeld
Another walk for the adventurous walker the Mount Sturgeon (Wurgarri) hike includes rock hopping and slippery surfaces taking an estimated 3 hours return.
At 12 kms return this is a full day out for those wanting to take the road less travelled. The spectacular 'Gate of the East Wind' is a highlight of this walk.
The Hollow Mountain (Wudjub-guyan) walk, on the northern side of the National Park is recommended for fit and energetic walkers and can involve slippery track surfaces, rock hopping and rock scrambling.

Distance: 1km return. Time: 45 minutes. Grade: Easy. Start: Ferntree Picnic area, Mount Buangor State Park. The return circuit passes three waterfalls, including Ferntree and Cascade Falls, and gives many excellent viewing points over the fern-lined upper reaches of the Middle Creek below, and passes through awe inspiring tall forest of Blue Gums and Messmates.
