There are dozens of historic and boutique wineries scattered across the undulating Grampians and Henty wine-making regions in Western Victoria. From an award-winning red to a vibrant white - Western Victoria has it all. Visit local cellar doors and meet passionate winemakers, hear their stories and let the amazing variety of wines tantalise your tastebuds.

The Grampians wine region is best known for its dense, purple and peppery Shiraz and sparkling wines. When in Ararat, stop in at Mount Langi Ghiran and Montara for a great cellar door experience and a wander through the vines.

In Great Western, you can discover the iconic Seppelt and Best’s wineries, whose vineyards date back to the mid-1800s. Tour Seppelt’s fascinating underground cellar, or take part in a regional wine tour with a local tour operator. Grampians Estate is the place to stop to enjoy some accompanying local produce in their new dining room overlooking the vineyards.

Located just a few kilometres from the historic Great Western township and just a half-hour from the ancient Grampians range, ATR Wines are open Thursday to Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 pm or by appointment on other days for winery visits and tastings. Neighbouring vineyard, Miners Ridge, is nestled on a gentle ridge in the foothills of Western Victoria’s Grampians region and is home to some of the region’s finest wines.

Sustainable organic vineyard practice and traditional winemaking with a focus on Grampians cool climate Shiraz is what Clayfield Wines are all about. A visit to their compact winery and cellar door in Moyston is a no-nonsense affair, where you receive personal attention from vigneron Simon Clayfield, who generously welcomes visitors and takes you on a journey sharing his wine knowledge and experiences.

Continue west and find yourself in the cosy town of Pomonal. Don't go past Pomonal Estate for a wine, crafted beer or cider with a delicious cheese platter. Fallen Giants is a must-do when journeying into Halls Gap - enjoy their cellar door or have a picnic on the lawn while the kids enjoy the playground.

Head further west and you'll discover the delightful Barangaroo Boutique Wines and Norton's Estate.

In the region’s southern Henty wine region, you’ll find a fabulous Pinot Noir. Head to Henty Estate, near Hamilton in the south, for a relaxing cellar door experience.

Local Produce & Dining

Local producers are proud of their specialist meat, organic vegetables, free range eggs, sheep’s milk yoghurt, honey and pink salt from our historic salt lakes. Olive groves, such as Red Rock Olives and Grampians Olive Co. (Toscana) create a striking landscape and award winning olive products and experience locally grown chick peas, capers and lentils.

Local chefs thrive on integrating seasonal produce into their menus, including the award-winning Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, one of Australia’s top dining destinations.
