Wineries, Breweries & Local Produce

Wineries & Breweries

There are dozens of historic and boutique wineries scattered across the undulating Grampians and Henty wine-making regions in Western Victoria. Visit local cellar doors and meet passionate winemakers, hear their stories and let the amazing variety of wines tantalise your tastebuds.

The Grampians wine region is best known for its dense, purple and peppery Shiraz and sparkling wines. When in Ararat, stop by at Mount Langi Ghiran and Mountainside Wines for great cellar door experiences and a wander through the vines.

In Great Western, you can discover the iconic Seppelt and Best’s wineries, whose vineyards date back to the mid-1800s. Here you will also find Grampians Estate, where you can also enjoy local produce in their new dining room overlooking the property.

Only a few kilometres from Great Western, amongst the bush and farmland, is Miners Ridge. A bit further west you will find Mount Stapylton Vineyard that lies on the western slopes of the Grampians on the foothills of the Mount Stapylton range.

Sustainable organic vineyard practice and traditional winemaking, with a focus on Grampians cool climate Shiraz, is what Clayfield Wines in Moyston is all about.

Continue west and visit Pomonal Estate for a wine, crafted beer or cider with a delicious cheese platter. Nearby Fallen Giants is a must-do when journeying to Halls Gap - enjoy their cellar door or have a picnic on the lawn while the kids enjoy the playground.

Head further west and you'll discover the delightful Norton's Estate.

Down south, in the Henty wine region, you’ll find a fabulous Pinot Noir. Head to Pierrepoint Wines, near Hamilton, for a relaxing cellar door experience.

Grampians Ale Works is located in Stawell, the Gateway to the Grampians, but also near the Wimmera region known for wheat and barley farming. They produce their own beers, wine, and gin and, in addition, support regional artisan beverage producers. Family owned and operated, Grampians Ale Works is the perfect place to spend a relaxing evening. The Microbrewery and Winebar also have live music.

In Halls Gap, Paper Scissor Rock Brew Co. was recently awarded four medals by the Independent Brewers Association of Australia and has an array of beers to choose from.

Finally, for a taste of the whole region and to learn more about what makes it so special, study the carefully curated selection of local wines at Grampians Wine Cellar.

Local Produce

Our local producers are proud of what they make. Olive groves at Grampians Olive Co. (Toscana) create striking landscapes and award-winning olive products. Five Ducks Farm in Pomonal makes small batches of delicious preserves from fruit grown on its own farm or sourced from local growers.

Local chefs thrive on integrating seasonal produce into their menus, including the award-winning Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, one of Australia’s top dining destinations. While in Dunkeld call into the Grampians Providore, a little store full of big flavors from the Grampians region and beyond.

Kerrie's Kreations in Halls Gap provides home-baked goods and handmade chocolates. When visiting the Grampians look for Daisy the pop-up cafe with Kerrie's produce. Or see here for details on the chocolate and wine tour of the Grampians.

Don't miss local Provedore Dominelli & Co. in Stawell, whose mission is to provide only quality and artisan products such as bread, charcuterie and cheeses (dairy and non-dairy). They also cater for picnics and grazing boxes.

Great Western Granary prioritises local and organic ingredients to produce innovative sourdough and pasta products with superior flavour which capture the essence of the Grampians region and pay homage to the farmers from whom the raw ingredients are sourced.
