Halls Gap Zoo

Get up and close with the ‘locals’ at Halls Gap Zoo. With over 160 native and exotic mammals, reptiles and birds the kids will have a ball visiting Victoria’s largest regional zoo! For an extra special experience, book an Animal Encounter to feed and interact with some of the zoo’s cutest inhabitants – like the meerkats, giraffes or dingoes.

Five Ducks Farm

Just near the zoo, you will see a roadside sign for the Five Ducks Farm. The Five Ducks Farm produces some of the best locally produced ice-cream in the region. Treat the kids to something sweet, while you taste-test your way through their range of local jams and quince pastes.

Rosehaven Farms

Located in Laharum in the Grampians region, Rosehaven Farms not only offers a tour of farm life, but it provides a sensory experience for visitors of all ages. Visit Rosehaven Farms to brush, cuddle and pat donkeys including their new baby; feed alpacas and sheep; or chat to owners Pam and David about their beehives and local produce store opening soon.

Brambuk the National Park and Cultural Centre

Any trip to the Grampians should include some time to explore Brambuk, a combination of the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and National Park Information Centre. The Cultural Centre is currently closed for redevelopment however the Information Centre, gift shop and stunning native surrounds are open to explore and learn about the rich Aboriginal cultural history of Brambuk, and the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park.

This Autumn their Junior Ranges School holiday program is back. Junior Rangers can take part in cool activities like rock pool rambles, historic tours and spotlight night walks. Grampians Adventure Golf

Grampians Adventure Golf offers fun, laughs and more for the whole family. It may be one of the most challenging courses you will come across, but we promise the lumps, bumps, water, sand pitfalls, short cuts and more will keep you entertained for hours on end. After you play the 18 holes head to the cafe for a bite to eat and wonder through the MOCO Gallery showcasing works by local artists.

Volcano Discovery Centre

On a cooler day, visit Penshurst’s Volcano Discovery Centre. Through videos and posters, the kids (and adults!) will be amazed to learn about the types of volcanoes and volcanic activity in Western Victoria. Explore the quaint town of Penshurst while you’re there, and if you’re feeling adventurous a climb to Mount Rouse will give you a most rewarding view.

Halls Gap E-Bikes

Quiet, safe and environmentally friendly, an E-Bike from Halls Gap offers a fun alternative to walking for ages 12 to 90. Hire these battery-powered bikes for half-hour or hour at a time and get ready for a fun family day out. The hour hire allows you to follow the bike path through the valley from Halls Gap to beautiful Lake Bellfield and return.

Giant Koala

Take a short drive to the Giant Koala in Dadswells Bridge, only 30-minutes from Halls Gap, Stawell or Horsham. Built in 1988 the Giant Koala stands 14 meters high. Inside is a small souvenir shop and next door an Indian restaurant. If this isn’t kitschy enough, at night the koala’s two beady red eyes light up. Or some kids may prefer the friendlier looking day-time koala…

J Ward Tours

Take a fascinating day tour of Ararat’s iconic J Ward. Tour guides will share interesting stories and insightful facts as families of all ages roam through the corridors of the historic building.
