5 ways to support local businesses in the Grampians

31 Aug 2021

With so many businesses in our region suffering due to COVID-19 restrictions, we'd love your help in supporting families and producers of the Grampians region.

We know times are tough, but before you buy from a big chain, consider whether it's something we might produce. If you’re unsure where to start, we’ve put together a list of how you can support our local businesses.

SHOP LOCAL, ONLINE

Missing the simple goodness of the Grampians? Many of our small businesses have adapted to offer online shopping, making it easier than ever to get a little piece of that Grampians magic at home.

The Grampians community continue to provide us with an abundance of fresh local produce and wonderful preserves. A care package is a great pick me up for those you love and miss in lockdown.

We encourage you to purchase goods online from The Hamilton Hampers, Five Ducks Farm, Red Rock Olives, Grampians Olive Co, Great Western Granary and Rose Haven Farms.

For beautiful Grampians inspired craftsmanship head to Dot and Frankie, Russ Studios, Ros McArthur Studio and Gerard Murphy Furniture.

Don’t forget the award-winning wineries scattered across the Grampians regions who offer home delivery services.

Build your own wine pack with Made the Grampians Way or join Grampians Wine Cellar’s wine club for special deliveries. You can also hit up our listed wineries to see what’s on offer.

Breweries such as Paper Scissors Rock and Grampians Ale Works, sell an enticing variety of local craft beer and spirits.

PURCHASE A GIFT CARD

Looking to send a birthday or thank you gift to a friend? Or, maybe you need something to look forward to on the other side of lockdown. Show people you are thinking of them or pay it forward by purchasing a digital gift card. Quick, easy and able to be redeemed when the time is right.

A few thought starters might be a helicopter ride with Grampians Helicopters, winery tour with Grampians Wine Tours, an abseiling adventure with Absolute Outdoors, a luxurious experience at Royal Mail Hotel or an animal encounter at Halls Gap Zoo.

STAY CONNECTED

Staying connected is one of the best things we can do during isolating times, ensuring everyone feels supported. Don’t forget to check in with friends, family, and local businesses that you love. Showing your support doesn’t always mean having to spend money!

By following our region’s local businesses on social media, signing up to their e-newsletters or simply sharing one of their social media posts with your friends and family members, you will be showing support during this difficult time. Take your support one step further by writing an online review for your favourite local business and making recommendations to family and friends.

RAINCHECK YOUR HOLIDAY PLANS

The Grampians community are extremely thankful for your ongoing support; however, we ask that you continue to support our local communities by postponing planned trips, rather than cancelling them. By re-scheduling a trip that you’ve planned, you’re allowing our local businesses the opportunity to rebuild and regroup.

HOLIDAY HERE THIS YEAR

When the time is right to travel, we urge you to consider holidaying here this year. Many regional communities like ours rely on tourism to thrive. That’s why we’re asking you to consider exploring your own backyard when the time is right.

If you’re looking for some inspiration follow us on Facebook and Instagram or discover fun itineraries and guides here.

Our accommodation offering is second to none, and while things are quiet – now could be your chance to book a nature escape that you’ve been craving.

As we work on overcoming these difficult circumstances, we encourage you to escape the chaos and focus on self-care, breathing fresh air, and connecting with loved ones.

We can’t wait to see you again and share our very special place with you.
