The Grampians is putting on a some amazing kids activities and events during the summer holidays that are sure to keep everyone busy and active! Here are some of our top picks of what to do and where to stay these school holidays...

Things To Do

Close encounters at Halls Gap Zoo

Halls Gap Zoo gives you the opportunity to have close encounters with a number of cute and cuddly creatures. Feed kangaroos, wallabies and deer or experience meerkats climbing onto your lap, play fetch with dingoes or say hello to the friendly African giraffe.

Adventure time

The Grampians is bursting with adventure activities for all ages! Local adventure companies offer guided walking, rock climbing and abseiling and horse riding tours. Absolute Outdoors provides friendly and professional rock climbing and abseiling courses for all skill levels. Take a ride on the wild side with Grampians Horse Riding Centre. Get a unique riding experience in the foothills of the mountains that is suitable for anyone from first timers to top international riders.

Make a Splash

Whether it's fishing, kayaking, swimming, canoeing, sailing or water skiing, there are heaps of lakes to choose from in the Grampians to ensure you can cool down from the summer heat.

Situated in Ararat on the Western Highway, Green Hill Lake is a popular family camping stop for travellers. With picturesque mountain ranges providing the perfect backdrop, the lake is host to many recreational water sports and activities to entertain the whole family.

Lake Fyans, recently voted the best swimming destination in the Grampians, is well known for its safe and sandy beaches. Try boating, fishing and canoeing on the lake, or just splash around and chill out on the beach.

Events

New Years Eve Street Party

Celebrate New Years Eve in Hamilton at the annual family-friendly NYE celebration that includes live music, entertainment, children's activities and amusement rides, food and drinks plus a raffle. The event will concludes at 10:00pm in preparation for the NYE fireworks display.

Splash ‘n’ Bounce

What better way to make the kids excited then a fully mobile inflatable water park?! An array of water fun and activities that will entertain kids, big and small, for hours. The Splash ‘n’ Bounce will be operating in Hamilton from Friday 26th January to Sunday 28th January.

Grampians Music Festival

Listen and dance to the latest upcoming bands live in concert in the foothill of Halls Gap. The music is complemented by local food and produce stalls to tantalise all your senses. But is it kid friendly?? Yes, It’s so kid-friendly in fact, that children under 12 are free! From Friday 2nd February – Sunday 4th February.
