Cycling Melbourne
Melbourne is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. Its predominantly flat landscape, abundant bike paths and a thriving bike-riding community make it a perfect city to explore on two wheels. So grab a bike, pick a path and enjoy seeing the city at your own pace.
Parks, beaches and the mighty Yarra River
Cycle through lush parks and gardens along the Yarra River and witness the changing landscape of the city. Alternatively, make a day of it and take a ride to the St Kilda foreshore, the nearby hinterland, or the beautiful beaches of the peninsula.
Where to find them
Grab a public 'pick up and drop off' bike, held in racks around the CBD as part of a new city council initiative, or rent one for longer from one of the numerous bike and inline skate rental companies across Melbourne.
Safety first
Be sure to follow the road rules and wear bright clothing when out and about. It is mandatory for all night riders to affix a light to their bikes and wearing reflective clothing will keep you visible to drivers. Helmets are compulsory.
