Horsham

Horsham, known as the Capital of the Wimmera, is a major service and commercial centre located on the banks of the Wimmera River. The beautiful Grampians National Park and the Wartook Valley region are only 30 minutes south east of Horsham.

If you head north-west of Horsham you will find the picturesque town of Natimuk and the striking Mount Arapiles which is regarded as one of the top rock climbing areas in Australia. Horsham is renowned for its dynamic arts community. 

Fast becoming the adventure capital of the Grampians region, Horsham is the official host city of the 2017 National Junior Motocross Championships , 2018 World Junior Motocross Championships and Nitro Circus Live Easter 2017.

Local tip:

  • Zumsteins Picnic Area in the Grampians National Park on the banks of the MacKenzie river is the site of an historic settlement. Enjoy the wildlife, a barbecue and a short stroll.
  • Mudadgadjin walk in the Black Range State Park, take the short walk from Mudadgadjin picnic ground through forest to the base of this very significant aboriginal artsite, nestled in an ancient rock shelter.
  • Flat Rock Walk in the Northern Grampians- From the Mt Zero carpark take a short but steep walk up Flat Rock; enjoy rock pools after rain and marvel at the sheer cliffs of Hollow Mountain and Mt Stapylton.
  • Mt Arapiles State Park, located 30 minutes west of Horsham, has a great drive to the top of "mount" for spectacular views-sunrise and sunset are truly magnificent. Try something different and be at the top of the mount on a clear night and view the stars.
